What are the options for businesses once OneSaas is retired?

13 April 2021 - With the recent acquisition of OneSaas by Intuit, all non-Quickbooks systems currently connected via OneSaas will no longer be supported. For businesses that find themselves in this situation, it’s important to understand what options are available.

OneSaas currently integrates business systems with one another, as well as connecting those systems with trading partners via EDI/API. There are many other solutions that your business can consider when looking to replace OneSaas. Deciding on a replacement solution depends on what system(s) you use, whether you want to manage the integrations yourself, or outsource the integration. Here are your options.

 

Option 1 - Don’t replace OneSaas

If you don’t replace OneSaas, you’ll have to manually process data in your system(s) that OneSaas is currently transmitting data between. This option only works if you have small volumes of data passing between your existing OneSaas connection.

If you have high volumes of data transactions, or large amounts of data within each transaction being sent/received, not replacing OneSaas could leave you vulnerable.

 

Option 2 - Use an integration tool

Many large businesses that have an IT Team that manage IT at an operational level may consider using an integration tool to manage integrations in-house. The benefit of this is that things can be managed internally by someone that works alongside other stakeholders in the business, and you’ve got more control in setting up and managing integrations.

The downside of this is that there may be a significant HR investment to train or acquire talent and if you don’t have a dedicated employee to help setup and support integrations, things can fall apart pretty quickly.

 

Option 3 - Outsource to a fully managed integration provider

Using a fully managed integration provider allows you to outsource the complexity of integration, and means your IT team can focus on strategic decision-making. Outsourcing integration to a partner that has proven experience with businesses like yours can mean faster onboarding of new integrations, quick and proactive support, and frees up time for your IT team to focus on improving your business, rather than managing it operationally. 

The risk here is that the external provider may not provide great support, may not understand what you’re trying to achieve, and therefore may not deliver services and outcomes to your expectations.
